Cream Cheese Cutouts

1/2 cup of margarine or butter
One 3 ounce package of cream cheese
2 cups of all purpose flour
1 cup of sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla

Preheat your oven to 375ºF. In a mixing bowl beat the margarine and cream cheese with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add about half of the flour, the sugar, egg, baking powder and vanilla. Beat until thoroughly combined. Beat in remaining flour. Cove, chill for 1 hour or until easy to handle. Divide the chilled dough in half. On a lightly floured surface, roll half of the dough at a time 1/8 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes with a 2 1/2 inch cookie cutter. Place 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a 375ºF oven about 8 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned. Cool the cookies on a wire rack. Makes about 60.
