Cream shortening and sugar together in a bowl until light and fluffy. Add the molasses and egg, beat well. Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, ginger cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg together into separate bowl, add to molasses mixture and blend thoroughly. Refrigerate overnight. Preheat your oven to 350ºF. Roll dough out on lightly floured board to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with 6 inch gingerbread man cookie cutter. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Decorate as desired. Makes 1 1/2 dozen |
