Bread Machine Garbanzo Bread

1 cup water reserves from draining canned garbanzos or cooking dried ones*
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 cup of canned or freshly cooked garbanzos
3 cups of whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons of nonfat dry milk
1 tablespoon of dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon of pepper
1/4 to 1 teaspoon of salt, to taste
1 1/2 teaspoons of active dry yeast

 

Pour the garbanzo water into the baking pan of your bread machine and add the olive oil, the garbanzos, then the flour, dry milk, brown sugar, pepper and salt. Distribute the yeast according to the directions for your bread machine. Bake on full cycle.

*You may either soak dried garbanzos overnight in water, half a cup of dry garbanzos will make a cup of beans after soaking, and then boil until tender or buy chick-peas canned, cooked and ready to serve.
