| Sourdough Hot Cakes
1 teaspoon of salt 1 teaspoon of soda 3 tablespoons of melted shortening 1 tablespoon of sugar 2 eggs
After removing the 1/2 cup of starter from the sponge, add salt, sugar, soda and eggs. Blend well. Add melted shortening and blend by hand. Bake on griddle. Note: For interesting taste variations, add 1/2 cup whole wheat flour, cornmeal, wheat germ or bran flakes. Be sure to use 2 eggs for these variations. |
