Amish Sugar Cookies

1 cup of unsalted butter or margarine, room temperature
1 cup of sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon of cream of tartar
4 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 cup of cooking oil
1 cup of confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 teaspoon of baking powder

Mix dry ingredients and add to egg, sugar, oil, and butter mixture. Drop by small teaspoon on ungreased cookie pan. Bake at 375ºF. for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 5 dozen cookies.

1 cup of vegetable cooking oil
1 cup of granulated sugar
2 Eggs
1 teaspoon of vanilla
4 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of cream of tartar

Combine butter or margarine, oil and sugars in a large mixing bowl; mix well. Add eggs, beat 1 minute until well blended. Add vanilla, beat well. In separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and cream of tartar; add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Drop by small teaspoon on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375ºF.  for 8 to 10 minutes. Yield: about 5 dozen cookies
