Sherried Crab Dip

one 8 ounce package of cream cheese, softened
3 tablespoons of medium dry sherry
1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon of lemon juice
1/8 teaspoon of hot pepper sauce
salt to taste
one 6 1/2 ounce can of crab meat, drained
1/4 cup of slivered almonds, toasted
crackers

 

Stir the cream cheese in 3 cup glass bowl or microwave safe dish until smooth. Add the sherry, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, hot pepper sauce, and salt. Stir well. Pick over crab meat, discarding any pieces of cartilage and shell. Stir into cream cheese mixture. Cover tightly with Saran wrap, turning back the edge to vent. Microwave at 50% power for 5 minutes until hot and bubbly. Stir 3 times while cooking. Season to taste with salt. Sprinkle with almonds, let stand for 3 minutes, then serve with crackers. Makes 10 servings

* To soften cream cheese in a microwave oven. Unwrap the cheese and place on plate. Microwave at 30% power for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes or until soft, turning cheese over once.
