Penne & Ham Casserole

 

Penne & Ham Casserole

8 ounces of penne
3 tablespoons of butter
2 tablespoons of flour
1 cup of milk
1 cup of shredded American cheese
1 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoons of ketchup
1 tablespoon of white horseradish
1 cup of frozen peas, thawed
2 cups of diced cooked ham
1/4 cup of bread crumbs

 

Cook the penne in boiling, salted water following package directions, drain. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in saucepan. Blend in flour. Add milk, cook, stirring constantly, until sauce is thick and smooth. Add cheese, cook, stirring constantly, until cheese is melted. Add salt, ketchup. horseradish, peas, ham, and penne, blend well. Transfer mixture to 1 quart casserole dish. Sprinkle with bread crumbs and dot with butter. Bake for 30 minutes or until top is browned. Remove from oven and serve. Serves 4
